The Eye of the Flower
He hasn’t once ceased looking at Daisy and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well-loved eyes -The Great Gatsby

People say that the eyes are the window of the soul. The center of a flower is a different color from the rest. Flowers are a symbol of love and beauty.
Why do people listen to soundcloud rappers?
Everyone is unique and different in their own way. Something that many people enjoy is music. There are plenty of music genres out there (rock, pop, rap, EDM, metal, etc.) and everyone has a preference of what they enjoy. For me, I’m a big fan of rap and hip hop. Right now, soundcloud rappers are very popular in this generation. It’s the majority of what my classmates listen to. Soundcloud rappers create mumble rap (rap songs that are simple and have incomprehensible lyrics) and 98% of the time, they rap about drug use and the wealth/popularity they’ve gained. To be honest, mumble rap has no meaning and most of the soundcloud rappers are the same (music wise, each rapper has a unique personality and style but they always rap about the same things). Personally love soundcloud rappers and I listen to their music a lot.
Now, you maybe thinking, “If all they do is rap about inappropriate and useless things, why do so many people listen to them? Why are they so popular?” I asked myself that too awhile back. My most of my friends listen to soundcloud rappers and I would question why they listen to that kind of music. Hearing the lyrics and and the style of their music intrigued me. One time, I asked my friend, “Why do you listen to this stuff? All they do is rap about how much Gucci they have and their addiction of sipping lean.” The response I got was underwhelming and it kinda annoyed me. All she said was that she doesn’t know and that she just likes it. When I got home, I looked up a lot of soundcloud rappers and listened to some songs. At first I still felt repulsed by what I was hearing, but then it grew to me. I liked the beats they use and the style of their rapping. It’s really catchy and energetic.
One of my favorite rap groups, Shoreline Mafia, started off with soundcloud. The type of music they put out is trap rap that’s focused on partying, sex, drugs, and guns. I’m not really fond of the meaning their music gives off but the beat and the vibes of the music are what really interests me. After watching multiple interviews that feature Shoreline Mafia members, I noticed their personalities and they way the group members act towards each other was actually really cool. Shoreline Mafia is a group that seems to have genuine friendship.
Soundcloud rappers that are also very popular are XXXtentacion and Lil Peep. XXXtentacion died on June 18, 2018 and Lil Peep died on November 17, 2017. They both started off of soundcloud and when they both died, many people were mourning and sad. Their music and death made an impact on many people (including me) and it shows the type of attachment people have for their favorite artists.
Now, the question, “why do people listen to soundcloud rappers?” still hasn’t been answered. Why are rappers that popularize drug use and partying getting popular these days? Well, I personally don’t know the answer to that because I can’t speak for everyone. But for me, I listen to them because the music they put out are really catchy and easy to rap/sing along to.

My name is Carleen. I’m in the 11th grade.
Although I’m only a high school student, a lot of things have happened in my life. I may not have lived very long compared to others, but I’ve definitely lived my life so far. Everyone has different experiences, perspectives, etc. That’s what makes everyone unique and human. We’re all different.
